Weatherization Program

The Let's Rebuild Tuskegee Weatherization Program offers free home energy upgrades to low-income households in Tuskegee, AL, helping families reduce energy costs and improve home comfort. Our team provides essential services such as insulation, air sealing, window replacement, and the repair or replacement of heating and cooling systems, all aimed at increasing energy efficiency and ensuring a healthier living environment. This program is designed to support local residents by lowering utility bills, enhancing home safety, and contributing to a more sustainable community.

Additional Considerations

  • Home Assessment: Home must pass a basic inspection to determine that it is structurally sound enough for weatherization improvements.

  • Program Agreement: Applicants must sign an agreement allowing program staff or contractors to access the property and perform necessary work.

  • No Recent Weatherization: Homes that have already received similar upgrades in the last 10 years may be lower priority.

  • Not everyone who applies for our programs will be selected. Applications are reviewed on a needs-based basis, meaning priority is given to residents who demonstrate the greatest need—such as low-income households, high utility burdens, and homes in critical disrepair. We are committed to fairness and transparency in our selection process, and we encourage all eligible residents to apply even if funding is limited.

  • If you are chosen for the Weatherization Program, repairs will typically begin within 30 to 60 days of selection. This time allows us to complete a final home assessment, coordinate scheduling, and ensure materials and contractors are ready for your project.
